San Tan Valley sits between the towns of Queen Creek and Florence, Arizona. It was officially given its name in 2009 and was no longer unincorporated. "San Tan Valley" was chosen as the top name out of 23 other choices. It is believed that this town got its name from the San Tan Mountains, which are located nearby. Some think that the city is a mispronunciation of Santa Ana and others believe the name is derived from the surname of the town's previous postmaster, George Santan.

As one of Arizona's newest communities, the residents believe that its unique identity will lead to a more robust economic development. As of 2019, the town's population had grown to 100,732. San Tan Valley is full of fun and exciting things for visitors and residents to enjoy. San Tan Mountain Regional Park is 10,000 acres of trails and mountainous terrain great for hiking, horseback riding, and many other outdoor activities.

Looking for some fun for the kids? Try Mansel Carter Oasis Park. This local park is concentrated on 48 acres and filled with fun activities such as playgrounds, a splash pad, a fishing pond, basketball courts, and a skate plaza. Queen Creek Botanical Gardens is a great way to learn about the edible plants in the area. It features various gardens and an industrial age water mill.

For the environmental crowd, make Schnepf Farms a stop on the journey. This fresh food wonderland allows you to buy in-season produce for an authentic farm-to-table meal experience. The Farmhouse was built in the 1950s by owner Ray Schnepf. It is the perfect spot for an elegant wedding with a rustic feel. Want to try your hand at glamping? It is camping with a flair. The Cozy Peach greets their guests with chocolate covered strawberries and champagne.

San Tan Village's open-air mall is upscale shopping at its finest, with names like Lululemon Athletica, Brighton Collectibles, and Nordstrom Rack. For a great place to eat, why not start with a restaurant named after the town? San Tan Flat offers excellent live music from local Arizona artists with a "side" of juicy burgers, steaks, and fish. For authentic San Tan Valley fare, try Queen Creek Olive Mill. Shop for locally produced olive oil and enjoy gourmet and specialty meals. You can also take a tour of the mill, learn how olive oil is produced, and visit Olivespa studio, where a full line of olive oil based skin products was developed.
